What is a trace number?

A trace number is used to investigate and track ACH/wire transfers. If you need more details about a wire transfer, you’ll need to request an Input/Output Message Accountability Data (IMAD/OMAD) number from the originating bank.

IMAD/OMAD numbers are unique identifiers assigned to wire transfers and function similarly to trace numbers. They typically follow this format: YYYYMMDDXXXXXXXX012345.
